Decking

What does Logical Decking consist of?

We proudly manufacture our capped composite decking boards from 95% recycled material, that’s 100% recyclable.

Our Majestic, Sovereign and Regal ranges boast a robust inner core, comprising the ideal blend of pure wood and premium-quality polymer (plastic), plus additional proprietary elements that further enhance the durability of each decking board. This composite center is capped in a protective layer of HDPE that shields the board against any harsh elements – locking in lasting luster for decades.

Logical’s Prestige decking range is composed purely from the finest quality polymer. By capping this solid polymer core in acrylic, we enhance an already durable product by wrapping it in the ultimate protective layer.

Can Logical Decking be used close to water?

Yes. All our products feature moisture resistance, allowing installation around pools, hot tubs and other moisture prone areas.

Can I paint or stain Logical Decking?

Due to our proprietary protective capping, no painting or staining is necessary to provide decades of lasting lustre.

Is Logical Decking fire resistant?

Our protective capping for the Prestige Decking Range carries a fire-protection rating.

Is Logical Decking mould resistant?

All our products are highly mould resistant and only in very rare cases can mould form on the surface of the decking board. This might happen in extreme weather conditions with exposure to excessive moisture in the air. Surface mould can easily be removed with an appropriate household cleaner.

Is Logical Decking fade and stain resistant?

Yes! Our fade and stain Warranty is your guarantee against a pristine-looking deck for decades.

Is Logical Decking scratch resistant?

Our protective capping is scratch resistant but not scratch-proof, thus care needs to be taken when moving objects such as furniture across your deck.

Can Logical Decking be used in commercial installations?

Our Regal and Prestige Decking Ranges are designed for heavier footfall areas and are ideal for commercial installations.

Can I power-wash my deck?

We suggest that only a professional cleans your Logical Decking with a pressure washer as the wrong pressure setting could cause surface damage and void your Warranty. A professional company should know the correct settings to be used on capped composite decking but we recommend a low pressure of under 3000 psi, at a distance of at least 25cm away from the decking’s surface.

Are Logical Decking boards slip-resistant?

Yes, our proprietary capping is slip resistant but take care in extreme weather conditions where ice might have formed on the decking surface. Follow our instructions to take care of your decking in snow-prone areas.

How do I protect my decking in snowy or icy conditions?

If you live in a snow-prone region, use a modest amount of rock salt to avoid ice build-up. After heavier snowfall, use a plastic shovel or broom to remove the snow build-up. Rock salt might leave a white residue on your decking which can easily be sprayed off with a hose, or cleaned with warm water, a gentle cleaning solution and a soft brush.

Installation

Do I need special tools to install Logical Decking?

A set of normal wood-working tools are all you need to successfully install your Logical Decking. This includes a hand drill, driver bits, tape measure, hand saw, screwdriver, spirit level, pencil, chop saw, safety goggles and safety gloves.

Can I install Logical Decking by myself?

Yes! Our handy installation guide and video are all you need to install your Logical Decking all by yourself.

Do you have an installation video to guide me through the process?

Yes, view our installation video on our Brochures and Guides page on our website.

Can I install Logical Decking below zero degrees?

No, due to the natural expansion of composite decking, we recommend only installing your Logical Decking in temperatures of above zero degrees. Your installation guide has specific spacing guidelines according to the temperature on the day of installation, as well as the length of your decking boards.

How many joists should support each board and how far should the joists be spaced apart?

Each decking board should be supported by at least 3 joists. Thus, when installing the subframe joists, use 300mm centre to centre spacing. These measurements are recommended for both residential decks, as well as commercial or heavy footfall areas.

I accidentally chipped a piece off my decking board, can I still use it?

Logical Decking is extremely resilient but when chipped, it might be exposed to the elements which could cause damage. We recommend not using the chipped board but feel free to contact our expert consultants for advice in your particular instance.

Maintenance

Can I clean Logical Decking with any cleaning solutions?

Your decking can be cleaned with a mild household cleaner and a soft brush. Never use harsh chemicals as this might damage the capped surface.

How often should I clean my deck?

We suggest spot cleaning your deck to avoid any grime or dirt build-up which can get tougher to remove. Plan a bi-annual clean to wash your entire deck.

What if I spill food or beverages on my deck?

If you spill any food or beverages on your decking, clean it as soon as possible to avoid staining. Easily remove spills with warm water and a gentle household cleaner. Use a pressure washer to clean tougher stains, keeping the pressure at the lowest setting and the nozzle at least 25cms from the decking surface. Wine and oily substances have the potential of causing swift staining and should be cleaned immediately.

Would the heat from a grill or fire-pit damage my decking?

A certain amount of indirect heat will not damage your decking, but it is still wise to take precautions to avoid voiding your Warranty with direct or excessive indirect heat exposure. Also take care to prevent any grease from dripping and collecting underneath your grill, by placing a splatter-guard mat underneath the area.

What if I accidentally scratch my decking?

Although all our products are scratch resistant, they are not 100% scratch proof. If some scratching does occur, simply allow this normal wear and tear marks to gradually fade.

How do I remove tree sap from my deck?

Tree sap is extremely sticky and cannot be removed with a mild household cleaning solution or power washing. A product such as WD40 is ideal for removing these tougher stains but be sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions closely to avoid bleaching or other damage to your deck.
